Where We Surf, Then and Now

Most Visited Websites 2008 and 2017
In 2017, American adults spent on average more than 12 hours a day staring at a screen—and more than three hours a day on a mobile device alone.
In 2008, there were no mobile devices. Our screen time was largely television. The Internet was a nascent technology, used mainly for information, not entertainment, shopping, and gaming, as it is today.

Not surprisingly, Google was the most visited website then, as it is now. It receives 28 billion visits every month, more traffic than the other 1.1 billion websites.
