As a former Marketing Director with the textiles division of global chemical giant DuPont, Sheila traveled throughout the U.S. and abroad tracking apparel trends displayed at industry events including Essence magazine’s annual “Essence Award Show”, GQ magazine’s “Men of the Year Award”, and New York’s “7th on Sixth” fashion shows.
Being an African-American businesswoman Sheila was no stranger to adversity. After achieving early success at DuPont for 14 years, the division was sold. Sheila ultimately resigned from the company and became committed to her long awaited dream of launching a regional business resource publication for professional women seeking career and educational advancement opportunities named North Carolina Career Network Magazine in 2005. Due to its favorable response and overwhelming demand, the magazine expanded nationally in April of 2008 and was rebranded as Diversity Woman Magazine.
Now celebrating 15 years of leadership empowerment, Diversity Woman Media represents the emerging cultural evolution among corporations globally who are pioneering innovative strategies and best practices. Supporting Fortune 100 affiliate partners include Dell, Cisco, Target, Toyota, Twitter, AARP, Cigna, Food Lion, JP Morgan Chase & Co., McDonalds, MITRE, Nielsen, Cerner, Sodexo, Walt Disney Co., Intel, Barclays, Federal Reserve, Walgreens, Edward Jones, etc.
