Vera Stewart

Senior Vice President, Diversity & Inclusion Consultant, Global HR | Bank of America

As a Member of the Enterprise Women & Underrepresented Talent team, Vera has responsibility for the Bank’s Black/AA Talent Strategy. By expanding Women Ready to Lead Programing, and working with External Partners, the Black Professional Group and the Black Executive Leadership Council, Vera works to retain and develop our underrepresented talent.

Previously, Vera was a National Performance Manager for the Consumer Bank. In this expanded role she had responsibility for the launch of the Business Employee Banking and Investing Program. As a Business Support Manager II for the California Division of the Consumer Bank, Vera was responsible for Community Development & Growth Strategies, focusing on CEB&I, Market Growth, Community Development Services, Pathways and Better Money Habits. As Market Leader for Beverly Grove, Vera managed Client Solutions, Operational Risk and Client Experience for the financial centers in the Mid-Wilshire, West Hollywood, and Hollywood Hills communities. Previously, as Site Leader for the Pasadena/Glendale Contact center, Vera managed the Asian Blend, Premier and Spanish Card Skills, leading a team of 400 managers and associates. As a Consumer Banking Market Manager, Vera provided leadership expertise to the Relationship Managers in the South Bay.

Vera began her career at Bank of America as a management trainee and has held several executive positions including Consumer Market Executive LA Mid-Cities and Customer Experience Executive for the Southern California Region.

Vera is a 2012 and a 2014 recipient of the Bank of America Global Diversity and Inclusion award. She was selected for the Inaugural 2018 Enterprise Women’s Next Level Leadership Program and the 2019 Diverse Leader Sponsorship Program. Vera has passed seven Investment exams including the Series 9 and Series 10.

She is a Co-Chair of BPG Enterprise and the Black Executive Leadership Team (LA). She is an advisor for MCWRTL as well as BWRTL, a member of the Greater LA Leadership Team, and Power of 10. Previously she was the Co-Chair of the South Bay/Long Beach Regional Council, Enterprise BPG West Region Chair and Co-Chair of Southern California BPG.

Vera currently serves on the Board of “A Place Called Home” where she is the Co-Chair of the Governance Committee. She sings in the Voices of Faith choir at the Faithful Central Bible church. She previously served on the Boards of the California African American Museum, the Weingart YMCA, Wilder’s Preparatory Academy, and West LA School of Law. She is an associate member of Jack & Jill Incorporated. Vera was recognized by Senator Curren Price with a SHERO award for outstanding service to the community.

Vera received a BA degree from UC Berkeley in Economics and earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola Law School. She also studied Economics with the American Economics Society at Yale University. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Prytanean Woman’s Honor Society and Loyola Law School Alumni Association.

Her son is a UC Irvine graduate, current MBA candidate and Bank of America associate. Her husband is a Retired Master Sargent in the U. S. Air Force and owner of Fairview Construction Company. They reside in the View Park section of Los Angeles.
