Kelvin retired as the first African-American Police Chief at the Georgetown Police Department, in Georgetown, South Carolina, which is the third oldest city in the state of South Carolina. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Charleston Southern University in Organizational Management and joined the John Maxwell Team in March of 2022. He is a graduate of the prestigious F.B.I. National Academy, in Quantico Virginia, and has trained with law enforcement executives from across the globe. He began his law enforcement career in 1997 after serving as a member of the United States Army in the Military Intelligence field. His impeccable record and accomplishments have positioned him to be a highly sought-after speaker, presenter, and coach. He started a successful coaching practice in 2020 called Waites Lifted Life & Leadership Coaching. Kelvin currently serves as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the City of Myrtle Beach. Kelvin stands on his life’s motto, “We are all actors in God’s production.” His strong faith inspires him to pursue excellence, even when excellence requires a huge stretch. A champion of diversity and inclusion, Kelvin is an inspiration to young people of color. He remains humble and focused on service despite all of the applause, awards, and accolades. Kelvin believes that we all should “not just be good, but we should be good for something.”
