Jillian Newell
Senior Director, Supply Chain at Newmont
Jillian Newell joined Newmont in 2019 working in the Information Technology team supporting Operational Technology, first for the company’s North American sites, then moving into the global support role. She recently joined Newmont’s Business Improvement team, working as the Global Full Potential Program Coordinator to gain better insight and experience within the business.
Jillian received her Bachelors of Science in Mining Engineering from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC. During her time at UBC, she captained Canada’s first all-female student Mine Rescue team, winning the International Student Mine Rescue Competition hosted by the Colorado School of Mines in 2019. Shortly afterwards, she co-created and hosted Canada’s first ever International Student Mine Rescue competition, which brought together student teams from across Canada and the US to learn and compete in the areas of underground emergency response.
Prior to her role at Newmont, Jillian first gained experience in operations across Canada including open pit diamond mining in the Northwest Territories, hydroelectric underground tunneling projects, tailings storage facility construction, and underground block caving operations in BC.
