Bobby F. Kimbrough, Jr., is the first African American Sheriff of one of the largest counties in North Carolina. He has a acquired a unique career portfolio spanning over 40 years in law enforcement and leadership. Bobby’s professional experiences have taken him around the world, working extensively in multiple countries while serving as a United States Federal Agent.
Bobby was born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and began his career as a Police Officer for the WSPD. He moved on to become an Arson Investigator with the Winston-Salem Fire Department while serving in the role of Assistant Fire Marshal. He then moved to work with high-risk offenders at the North Carolina Department of Probation and Parole. From there, Bobby served the United States Department of Justice as a Special Agent in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). He specialized in investigating crimes against the government, including organized crime, money laundering, gang violence, and drug trafficking. While at the DEA, he earned various certifications, including Department of Justice Instructor, and his fluency in Spanish afforded him the opportunity to work throughout the U.S. as well as Spanish speaking countries.
As an active community leader, he founded Branded for Knowledge, a program focusing on strengthening, empowering, and encouraging individuals to reach their full potential. Bobby continues to hone his leadership skills, completing the Dale Carnegie Course, Skills for Leadership.
The author of 3 books, Bobby earned his B.A. in Sociology from High Point University and a Masters in Leadership from Piedmont International University. He is currently working toward his PhD in Organizational Leadership. In his spare time, he enjoys flying, reading, and spending time with his seven sons. Above all, he considers being a single parent raising seven sons as responsible, respectful young men to be his greatest accomplishment.
