Bethany Mily
President, Bitwise Industries Company Changing the Game for Women Game Changer Award Winner
Bitwise Industries was founded in 2013 in Fresno, California to connect people coming from stories of poverty and/or exclusion to opportunity in the technology industry. This work is accomplished through the training of individuals with in-demand tech skills and offering apprenticeship programs, hiring trained talent into its technology services division, and locating it all alongside other tech and tech enabled companies in inspiring technology hubs developed by Bitwise located in the downtowns of the cities they serve.
Bethany Mily works with the management team to direct strategy, guide policy and identify goals for Bitwise and its offshoot companies, including Bitwise Technology Services. She takes the lead on strategic philanthropy initiatives, funds cutting-edge SaaS companies, and creates learning opportunities for marginalized populations through Bitwise Workforce Training programs. Previously, Bethany was the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction at the Center for Advanced Research and Technology (CART), a project-based, technology high school in California’s Central Valley. Born and raised in Fresno, California, Bethany attended California State University, Sacramento, where she majored in English language and literature. (Inspired by her love of biographies, she also minored in criminal justice.) Bethany went on to attend National University and earned two master’s degrees, one in education and the other in educational administration and supervision. She has also helped to organize fundraising events for the Marjaree Mason Center, a Fresno-based non-profit women’s shelter that supports and empowers adults and their children affected by domestic violence.
QUOTE
“Bitwise Industries is committed to creating a more equitable and representative workforce that supports the advancement of women in tech and beyond. It is through our work as a company that we foster inclusion and empower women to achieve success in a space they have largely been excluded from. While we continue to work for a more balanced future, we know that we cannot do this alone. It will take Bitwise’s efforts and the commitment of others to achieve real change. This work ultimately benefits the employee, the company and the community at large.” – Bethany Mily, President, Bitwise Industries
