Amanda Adams, P.E, PMP, is a Principal Engineer and Business Center Operations Leader at Stantec with 16 years of industry experience. At Stantec she has been involved in a variety of projects, primarily focusing on design of tailings storage dams for mining clients. Design experience has spanned all phases of project development from siting studies to pre-feasibility, feasibility, basic engineering, detailed design, construction, operation and closure. As a project manager she has specialized in the integration of large, diverse project teams, spanning multiple locations both in the US and internationally. She brings together the various technical disciplines required for dam design and coordinates the technical interactions, as well as scope, schedule and budget. Amanda is passionate about advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in the mining industry. She served as President of the Women in Mining Denver Chapter for 2020-2022, she is the US Society on Dams (USSD) Tailings Dams Committee Chair and Secretary of the SME Tailings and Mine Waste committee. She recently co-moderated a Women in Tailings session at the Society of Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration conference and a Women Who Give a Dam session at the USSD conference. She was also one of the founding members of the USSD Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee.
