Chief Communications Officer, Nielsen
Laura Nelson is an award-winning strategic communicator with a long history of success developing integrated communications and marketing programs. A media industry veteran, she was named Nielsen’s Chief Communications Officer in February 2014.
In this role, Laura is responsible for developing and sustaining an overarching messaging strategy that builds upon Nielsen’s legacy and highlights the innovations that drive the business forward. She oversees internal and external communications, client communications, investor communications, issues management, executive communications, industry relations, and corporate events.
Laura began her career at Nielsen as Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications where she oversaw the marketing and communications strategy for all of the company’s media, audience, and advertising businesses. Previously, she spent 18 years in TV, including stints at Oxygen, VH1, Comedy Central, and Current TV.
Deeply passionate about global health issues, Laura previously ran The Gilbride Group, a strategic integrated marketing company focusing on non-profit and media clients working with the Gates Foundation, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, and the United Nations.
