Katya Nieburg-Wheeler, SVP with Barclays Bank Delaware, is the Head of the American Airlines partnership co-brand program. With over 21 years of service in the financial sector, she has diverse professional expertise and leadership spanning P&L ownership, acquisitions customer marketing, product development, and strategic planning. Prior to joining Barclays, Katya spent ten years at MBNA prior to its 2006 sale to Bank of America. During her time at MBNA, Katya was involved with the company’s international expansion into Canada, lead acquisition and activation efforts in the Consumer Finance Division, consulted with the Corporate Initiatives Group across multitude of bank-wide projects, and later managed Product Development, Reporting and Marketing teams for a commercial lending company tailored to dental and medical private practice owners.
Katya is a co-lead of Barclays’ Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) and actively promotes woman empowerment through mentoring at work and beyond. She also serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for Girls Scouts of Chesapeake Bay Council, where she passionately works to deliver sustainable and thriving place for young girls to learn and grow. Katya earned her Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Georgetown University, and continues to be an active alumna. In her spare time, she serves as a President of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) at the New Garden Elementary School. Katya is a published poet and writer. She lives with her husband and 4 children in Pennsylvania.
