Ashley Bunn

Senior Instructional Designer & Curriculum Developer, Congressional Staff Academy

Ashley currently serves as the Senior Instructional Designer and Curriculum Developer for the Congressional Staff Academy under the Office of the Chief Administrative Office. As the first ever Senior Instructional Systems designer for the U.S. House of Representatives, Ashley works with the Director of the Staff Academy to stand up a best in class training and professional development academy that provides relevant and timely curriculum for Congressional Staffers from all levels including Chiefs of Staff to our young emerging Congressional Interns both in Washington, DC and all Congressional District Offices.

Prior to joining the House of Representatives, Ashley was the Senior Manager of Curriculum Development for Marco’s Franchising LLC. – an international food franchise, headquartered in Toledo, Ohio. In both roles Ashley has been crucial to the development of both the Marco’s Corporate University and the Congressional Staff Academy.

Ashley has extensive experience in both training and development and politics with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Morgan State University and a Master’s degree in Instructional Systems Design from the Univ. of Maryland – Baltimore, County. Ashley has served in various leadership roles from her reign as Miss Teen Albany (in her hometown of Schenectady, New York) by leading a campaign for Teen Pregnancy Prevention to her position on the Miss Black and Gold Royal Court and Vice President, and President (respectively) of the Morgan State Political Science Association.  In the recent past she’s served as co-Chair of the Toledo Museum of Art young professionals group The Circle. She also served as a board member for the Toledo NAACP. She currently serves as co-chair of professional development on the Congressional Black Staff Association Executive Board.

As a young leader she has created innovative professional development programs such as a workshop on Pronouns in the workplace during Pride month for Congressional Staff. She is most proud of starting Marco’s first ever Diversity and Community Engagement Committee and serving as the committee chair. Under her leadership she managed a budget of $20,000 and facilitated Marco’s donating over $10,000 throughout the city of Toledo
